Diefenbaker
Stamp
This mural on the side of the Willkommen Centre was painted by Rob
Muench a local artist in 1999. It honors John G. Diefenbaker, Canada's 13th
Prime Minister (1957 - 1963). The mural is a representation of an actual
stamp which shows a Humboldt Post Office cancellation mark. |
Carlton Trail / Alexander von Humboldt / Telegraph
Station
This mural is on the Heartland Credit Union building, it was painted by
Gerhard Lipp in 1994. The left panel depicts the immigrants struggling on
the Carlton Trail (Canada's Highway to the West) from Rosthern to Humboldt.
The centre is of Alexander von Humboldt our town's namesake, who was a
German Naturalist, Scientist and Explorer. The right panel depicts Humboldt
Telegraph Station (1876) which was located 8 km south west of present day
Humboldt. Most of the first settlers were German-speaking and from the
Northern United States. The agency of settlement for the area was the
German-American land Company.

Ford Dealership
This mural located on the Discovery Ford building was painted in 1996
by German Jaramillo, it depicts Humboldt's main street around 1930 with the
old post office, now the museum, the old CIBC built 1912, and the Ford
dealership.

Humboldt's Beginnings
These murals are located on Tremblay Furniture building and was painted by
German Jaramillo in 1995. The Indian Teepees and European Explorer depict
history prior to settlement.

Harvest Memories
This mural located on the Seniors New Horizon Centre was painted by Ernest
Bereti in 1997. It shows an authentic binder, a man stooking, a mother
bringing lunch to the field by horse and buggy (not shown on this part of
the mural).

German Balcony
This mural is located on Shoppers Drug Mart and was painted in 1996 by
Gerhard Lipp

Liquor Store Murals
These are a combination of exterior and interior murals painted by Gerhard Lipp
in 2000. These consist of twelve murals depicting wine country, vinyards,
processing, hop, and beer making.
